God’s most exhaustive description of himself was simply “I AM.” He was and is and is to come. The angels in heaven repeat this reality without stopping. John’s gospel says that from the beginning Jesus was with God. He was and is present. He was in the heavens with his Father, he was with us on earth, and we anxiously await his return.
Jesus is the exact imprint of the nature of God. Jesus said that if we have seen him, we have seen the Father. Many foretold his coming, and now we foretell of his coming again. He came to seek and save the lost, and he IS coming again...the exact imprint of the nature of God.
Advent invites us to join in this beautiful story of salvation. His-story. We have been a part of it all along, even before time. He was always coming to save us.
Before we can join in, we must prepare our hearts for his coming. We should pause in the midst of our busyness this season. We should sit quietly praise him for who he is. We should picture him in all of his radiance and glory. We should thank him for coming to save us and for coming soon to take us home.
THE GLORY OF GOD IS COMING...
